Video Conversion & Software Experience

Being a film producer between 2005-2009 was the most frustrating years editing film. Equipment and software upgrades were sporadic. We were transferring hours of footage from HD mini DV tapes into our software. Now it is easier to transfer footage because we have HD cameras with built-in hard drives. Having one of the earliest consumer cameras makes it difficult to transfer footage because the footage requires additional software for converting the footage to the compatible software. I’ve saved films on old video editing software via Final Cut. Final Cut Pro has upgraded 2 times since then and I won’t be able to open that project unless I’m using the oldest version.

So to all video software companies, can we please have a legitmate video software that can open older files without the hassle of losing what was created in the past!?

CAPAS Documentary for Claremont College

I’m multi-tasking with visuals, audio, transitions, and the CAPAS storyboard outline. I have been video editing from M-F. After 3 weeks of rough cut editing, the film’s story board and visuals are finally complete. The difficult part is to add visuals for the green screen implementation. I will have to make a duplicate of the final product so I can add post-production art within the interviewers’ green screen. I have to delete all audio and other visuals to make this work.
